Väderstad: How API integration streamlines training and access for contractors

Väderstad handles many contractors every week, and safety is always a top priority. Previously, information was distributed manually via paper booklets and various channels. This led to rework, lost time and risk of errors.


To create a more structured and safe contractor flow, Väderstad integrated its visitor system with SSG’s API for training data and access management. This has fundamentally changed the way we work and created a more efficient, safe and coherent process.
 

The Challenges

Prior to integration, the process was manual and fragmented:

  • Based on paper form and manual training checks
  • Not automatically connected between training status and access
  • Many loan cards were handled via reception, with the risk of cards on hold
  • It was unclear who was authorised when they must start working

The Solution:

By using SSG’s API, Väderstad connects today.

  1. Real-time training status. API calls to SSG’s course database check whether the contractor has valid training courses (basic course + local course).
  2. Access is automatic upon successful completion of training. The access system only grants access when the API response from SSG shows that all training requirements have been met.
  3. Access is removed by automatic means when the assignment is completed. Once the assignment is completed, access should be removed via the same API connection, without manual handling.


The API integration makes the process traceable, consistent and fully automated - with training requirements as a prerequisite for access.

Results

The API solution has provided several clear advantages.

  1. The right competence - before work starts: The training status is checked against SSG by automatic means before the contractor gains access. 
  2. Direct connection between training and access: Access to the access system is no longer manual, but based on API data from SSG.
  3. Less administration: Reception’s time for loan cards, manual checks and error handling has decreased considerably.
  4. Entrepreneur experience: Contractors feel that the process is clear, efficient and professional - all via the same SSG card.
