Estrella’s investment in entrepreneurial skills increases awareness and reassurance

A real lift. This is how snack producer Estrella describes the collaboration with SSG and its structured investment in entrepreneurial competence, quality and safety.
Estrella is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of crisps, cheese bars and other snacks. More than 300 people work at the Angered site just outside Gothenburg.

On a normal day, some twenty contractors come to carry out different types of assignments in the business. Change work can involve many more.

– It has always been a challenge to keep the contracted staff informed and aware of our special risk environment," he says. In the past, this was done verbally, by our coworkers on site and only when the contractors arrived at the site.
For a few years now, all external personnel must complete the SSG Entre Contractor Safety safety course in order to enter and work on Estrella’s area. The contractors must also have completed the local course that the company has developed together with SSG.
Receipt of competence and quality
It is the responsibility of each coworker to hire contractors with the right training and competence. When they arrive, they also receive an extra safety briefing about what applies at the site. The introduction in combination with the safety courses reduces the pressure on purchasers.
SSG’s training courses have been developed in collaboration with the industry and set industry standards. They are a receipt that everyone in the business has the required knowledge.
– The courses are a creator of security, but above all an increased awareness of the work environment and safety, which I can see among my coworkers and contractors. It drives our safety work in the right direction.

Focus on safety
Increased awareness of safety and the working environment has caused problems. Improved safety procedures, more risk reporting and clearer requirements for external personnel are some of the positive results.
– Our focus is on the health and safety of everyone working at our site," says Kristian Rynvall. That is why we maintain a continuous dialogue with our contractors, check that the work is going well and that it is done in accordance with applicable safety regulations.
One app for everything
When Kristian Rynvall looks forward, he is pleased to see a developed cooperation with SSG in terms of contractor competence, quality and safety.
– Right now, we’re looking at the SSG On site app. It would allow us to gather everything about our site and easily reach both our own and external personnel with the safety information they must know.
