Digital fences strengthen control in SSG Site Staffing

12 May 2026

A new functionality is now being launched in the SSG Site Staffing service, which makes it easier to ensure correct presence at the workplace. With the help of geofencing, businesses gain better control over who is on site - and when.

Geofencing means creating a digitally delimited area around a workplace or a specific work area. The function acts as a virtual fence and is used as a support to ensure that check-in and check-out via the app takes place in the right place.

– With this new technology, we are taking an important step towards more reliable presence management. This is a sought-after function that many businesses will benefit from immediately," says Markus Sjöholm, product owner.

Ensures real-time presence

When the geofence is activated, the app checks whether the user is within the defined area. This means that check-in can only take place when the person is actually present. If someone leaves the area without checking out, the app also sends a reminder.

This provides a more accurate and up-to-date situational picture of the presence at the workplace.

– This is about both data quality and security. Knowing who is actually located within an area is important in many businesses," says Sjöholm.

For better planning and increased safety

The function is particularly valuable for operations that lack physical boundaries, such as gates or fences. Geofencing then becomes a digital complement that strengthens planning, coordination and safety work.

Administrators in SSG Site Staffing can easily activate the function for a project or work area via the admin interface. Then the area in question is plotted digitally. Once this is done, both contractors and employees can use the function when checking in and out.

– Advanced technology does not need to be required to increase safety/level of control. Geofences are easy to get started with, and you can quickly see the benefits of using them," says Markus Sjöholm.
