Exchange of experiences and insights in focus during the SSG Safety Conference

30 March 2026

This year’s SSG Safety Conference has now been completed - two intensive days filled with knowledge, inspiration and meetings between people. The conference brought together professionals from different industries, where the focus was on both technical and human factors in health and safety work.

The programme offered a wide range of perspectives, from change management and lessons learned from crises to issues related to alcohol and drugs in working life. Through real-life cases from different industries, the participants shared concrete experiences and insights that can be implemented in their own safety work.

The conference was led by moderators Sara Marczak and Andreas Utterström, who, with their journalistic background, created an engaging and cohesive flow where lectures and discussions are naturally linked together.

Posting on the agenda

Networking was a key part of the conference. There were many valuable conversations between lectures, during breaks and during shared meals. The discussions around the tables were important forums for exchanging experiences. The issue of foreign labour aroused great commitment, and under the leadership of Linn Folke from SSG, the participants contributed to many nuanced discussions about what challenges and opportunities this entails for the industry.

Several lectures also focused on human behaviour and decision-making. Kristian Gould highlighted an important insight: the feeling of doing right and wrong is often the same at the moment. It is only afterwards, when the consequences become clear, that we realise if something has gone wrong. His message to the participants was to keep this in mind in their daily safety work.

Former combat pilot Max Villman shared experiences from the air force and showed how decision-making under pressure and clear structures can be transferred to working life to create safer and more efficient organisations.

Learning from each other

Among the business examples, Polarbröd highlighted how they handled the large fire in their bakery. A decisive factor in their crisis management was putting the focus on coworkers. Through clear and open communication and a strong focus on the people in the organisation, trust and stability were created in a very challenging situation.

Mondi Dynäs also shared their experiences, with Erika Lundholm and Jessica Kärrlander talking about the introduction of alcohol tests when entering and leaving the site.

Peter Stenberg and Vanesa Jakopovic from AstraZeneca highlighted their work on developing structures, working methods and safety culture, with a focus on creating a more proactive and sustainable work environment through digitalisation.

A place for networking

The conference was characterised by a warm and pleasant atmosphere, where the joint dinner became an estimated element where the participants continued to network in a more relaxed environment. The evening also featured an engaging music quiz that contributed to both laughter and community.

In summary, this year’s SSG Safety Conference was a meeting place for sharing experiences and reflection. In addition to the knowledge-intensive program, the days ended with the latest news from SSG. We hope that the combination of inspiring lectures, real case studies, dedicated moderators and opportunities for networking made the conference a valuable experience for the participants.
