Digital verification must make competence and certificates safe before work starts

27 February 2026

One of the industry’s major challenges is insufficient controls and unclear validity of training certificates. This creates uncertainty and uncertainty that can lead to incorrect handling, work being completed incorrectly, stoppages in workflows, increased risks and, in the worst case, accidents at the workplace. SSG has now developed a solution that must help to ensure the prerequisites - before work starts.

– Many businesses spend a lot of time on manual checking of competences and certificates, and there is not always a systematic process where all managers have the same routines and controls. By connecting digital requirements in the work permit via SSG Workflow with the competence database in SSG Skillnation, everyone involved can digitally ensure that the requirements are met before work starts," says Markus Sjöholm, SSG Workflow Product Manager.

Up-to-date information in digital flow

By connecting SSG Workflow, a digital system for work permits, to the SSG Skillnation competence platform, an automatic and digital flow is created where the requirements for each work permit are checked and verified against the individual worker.

– One of the major challenges today is to keep competence information up to date. In SSG Skillnation, certificates are verified and maintained on an ongoing basis, which means that employers and clients can trust that the information is correct and up-to-date when used," says Magnus Björk, Product Manager at SSG Skillnation.

More efficient administration

When a person is assigned a job in SSG Workflow, verification takes place immediately. The system performs an automatic check to see if the required certificates are available and valid. The status is immediately visible to all parties - from issuer, supervisor, manager to contractor. A green light means that all requirements have been met. A red light indicates missing or expired permissions.

– This should not remove the responsibility of sites to do on-site checks. But when all parties can see digitally in good time if something is missing or invalid, it gives the opportunity to handle this before work must start," Markus Sjöholm continues.

The digital connection between services streamlines both administration and uncertainty, while strengthening compliance with security requirements. All information is collected in a common, traceable system that is kept up to date in real time. Personal data is protected and only shown to authorised users.
