This standard provides instructions on the design of fixed and removable balustrades made from steel tubing and stainless steel tubing for fixing to floor structures and stairs in industrial buildings. The document is to be used as a basis for engineering and procurement, with a purpose to providing the involved parties with information concerning conditions at an early stage, as well as design instructions.
Stairs adjacent to process equipment are also covered by the Machine Directive.
