The principal object of these recommendations is to give the industry a system of codes and symbols which have been tested and evaluated in conjunction with several large projects.
These recommendation comprise codes and symbols for fundamental control system functions in process flow diagrams. All the phases and auxiliary systems which form part of the process are set out in the process flow diagram. This is done by symbols and lines which describe processes with respect to functions such as to move, treat, measure, control and store a product.
