This standard provides instructions regarding functional requirements for screw conveyors. The standard also gives consideration to financial aspects. The standard is to be used as a basis for project planning and procurement to provide those concerned with information concerning conditions at an early stage, so that the construction will be performed correctly.

The standard does not take any position on the personal safety aspects as the function is based on technical conditions, requirements and experience.

These functional requirements should not be taken as fully applicable to screw conveyors that are
– pressurised
– centreless
– built-in to machines
– vertical
– intended for dilution, dewatering or compression
as these may require other technical solutions.
