This guide describes the requirements for welding work and is intended to serve as a support for the purchaser in determining which skills are required for various welding work to be carried out at a facility. The guide can also be used by suppliers to improve their understanding of the purchaser’s requirements.
The guide does not apply as a specification of requirements for work carried out within a supplier’s own workshop.

Welding work is very important for the reliability and accessibility of equipment and facilities. This guide constitutes Swedish industry’s interpretation of current welding regulations for metallic materials, and also contains additional requirements specific to Sweden. The goal is for all welding in Swedish facilities to be carried out with the right level of quality, in the right position.

The guide is a complement to the standards EN ISO 3834 (Sections 1-4) and EN 1090-2. Together with these standards, it provides an interpretation of what constitutes “good technical practice” when it comes to welding work in industrial facilities.
