A risk assessment must always be carried out before any type of work. This standard is intended to provide organisations with a structured approach to identifying, assessing and documenting risks that may affect both health and personal safety in the workplace. It provides a basis for implementing preventive measures that promote a safe work environment. The standard should be viewed as an overarching checklist that can be used for many types of operations and tasks where there is a risk of physical injury, work-related ill health or exposure to hazardous substances. This standard is based on SSG 2118 Risk management template (linked to SSG 2100 Risk management model).

The checklist is intended to be completed by those responsible for the work environment in consultation with health and safety representatives and may be adapted to suit the risk assessment being carried out.
If any of the checkpoints are answered YES, the risk must be assessed and acted upon, and then reassessed after control measures have been implemented and before the work is carried out. Checkpoints that are not relevant are marked N/A (Not Applicable).
The risk assessment (or risk identification) is documented in the separate tab "RA - Health & personal safety" and saved in accordance with local procedures.
For more information, see the Swedish Work Environment Authority's provisions on systematic work environment management (AFS 2023:1), which set out the employer's duty to regularly examine working conditions, assess risks and take preventive measures.
