Training news from SSG - updated Employee Safety and new training on enclosed spaces
13 January 2026
SSG continues to develop the course offering and can now present three major new products: a comprehensive update of the SSG Employee Safety basic course, as well as the launch of the two brand new courses SSG Confined Spac and SSG Safe Site Visits, developed together with experts from Swedish industry.
The work to modernise SSG Employee Safety has been ongoing during the autumn and is one of the biggest changes since the launch of the course. The updated version follows the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s new structure and is shared into two parts - basic rules and other provisions.
– We have seen a great need for a course that is both pedagogically clear and reflects the new rules structure. The division into two parts makes it easier for the participants to understand the whole and connect the theory to real work environment situations," says Linnéa Medelberg, Head of E-learning at SSG.
Examples from everyday life
Among the news is in-depth information on the HTO perspective (Human, Technology, Organisation), work-related stress, victimisation and crisis support. The previous separate section on legislation has been replaced by ongoing explanations of relevant rules in the respective sections. The course also contains more interactive elements, fictitious cases from everyday work and animated video clips that clarify key risks and safety procedures.
– We want to create a more active learning where the participants can relate to situations similar to their own working environment. The exercises and case studies help to retain knowledge better, while the tests at the end of each chapter provide quick feedback," says Linnéa Medelberg.
Two new courses
At the same time, SSG Confined Space is launched - a digital course on working in enclosed spaces developed together with subject matter experts and experts from Swedish industry. The course provides an hour’s introduction to definitions, risks and safety requirements, with special focus on routines and accountability.
– Working in enclosed spaces is one of the most high-risk tasks in industry. Here we saw a clear need for an easily accessible and modern course that strengthens the safety culture in the workplaces.
The course offering is also supplemented by SSG Safe Site Visits. This digital course is primarily aimed at coworkers and managers visiting sites to plan, inspect, evaluate or submit offers. Large industrial plants in Sweden often have clear routines and work systematically to prevent risks. Smaller sites, such as a pumping station, sometimes lack the same structure. In these environments, there are therefore higher requirements that the visitor himself/herself has the knowledge required to be able to act in a safe manner.
– These are working environments that all too often fall outside the systematic safety work. The course gives project managers, salespeople and managers increased awareness of the risks that can arise during site visits and shows how you can prevent accidents, for example through good planning," says Linnéa Medelberg.
The course has been developed in collaboration with the industry organisations Vattenindustrin, Pumpserviceföretagen and Swepump.
In connection with the launches, two older courses, SSG Employee Safety Office and SSG Safety Culture, will be discontinued for new purchases. Their content is partly integrated into the updated training courses.
The new version of SSG Employee Safety will be published at the end of the year, while SSG Confined Space and SSG Safe Site Visits were launched at the end of November.
