SSG supports Geek Girl Sundsvall
17 October 2025
SSG Standard Solutions Group visited the Geek Girl Mini business at Sundsvall Makerspace.
Geek Girl Mini offers young girls and non-binary children aged 10-14 a safe and inspiring environment to explore technology and creativity. Geek Girl also offers Micro for younger girls aged 8-10 years. The business focuses on boosting their confidence in technology through practical projects that include programming, soldering and 3D printing.
– We want Geek Girl to be a place where all girls and non-binary children can find a sense of belonging and community, in the same way as in sports, for example. We strive for an inclusive world in technology and hope that one day we will no longer be needed,” says Linda Hedblom, Manager at Geek Girl.
As a proud sponsor, we at SSG distributed Micro:bits to all participants, small programmable microcomputers that give young people a fun and concrete introduction to the world of technology.
– We want to help more girls get involved in technology and see the exciting opportunities this field has to offer. Geek Girl is a fantastic forum for this,” says Janette Hedin, IT Manager at SSG.
During the evening, the children were creating “book nooks” – miniature worlds to place between books on the bookshelf. They were involved in the entire process of this project, from planning to sketches and construction, and during the evening most of them were engaged in creative work. They were painting and crafting every day, and Makerspace became a hub of concentrated activity.
We are proud to have been part of this inspiring evening and look forward to supporting similar initiatives.
