Did you know that SSG recently hired a colleague in Norway to get even closer to our customers and the industry there? Meet Simen Storberget, SSG’s Country Sales Manager in Norway. Simen is based in Drammen and is available to help Norwegian companies create safer workplaces.
Let’s get to know him a little better!
Simen Storberget, SSG’s Country Sales Manager in Norway.
I find this to be one of the most challenging questions to answer, honestly. That said, I’d consider myself a very social person, and I hope that’s something others can see as well. I love meeting new people and have a natural curiosity – it really energizes me to learn about others’ work environments and the challenges they face.
Apart from that, I live a fairly ordinary family life with a wonderful wife and two fantastic children. And if I have a bit of spare time, you’ll probably find me on a nearby golf course.
That’s a big and complex question, but I believe the Norwegian industry largely faces the same challenges as the industrial sector across Europe. I think the green transition, where everyone must focus on the environment and sustainability, is a topic being discussed heavily in many sectors, and perhaps especially in industry. Everyone knows the end goal, but the path to get there isn’t always easy to find.
I also think skills development is high on the list of what many industries and businesses will need to focus on even more in the coming years. There is a lot of great expertise within the Norwegian industrial sector, and a lot is likely already well-established. But there’s one area where I think you can never learn enough, and that’s in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment). After more than ten years in the construction and infrastructure industry, I’ve both seen and read about incidents that should never have happened.
HSE is so much more than simply wearing the right work attire for the job, and more than just reading through and accepting what’s required by an individual company. It’s about the bigger picture. It’s not just about the individual person; it’s also about their social lives. I’ve often thought about how dreadful it must be to be the person who has to call someone’s family to inform them that an accident has occurred. And from the other side, being the one receiving that call. Just the thought of it gives me chills.
So yes, HSE work is probably our absolute most important purpose. We want to be the industry’s partner in ensuring the safety of everyone at a facility, regardless of your title or the tasks you perform. I have great confidence that SSG’s services and solutions can help many Norwegian industrial sites improve their everyday operations.
There’s a lot I’m looking forward to in this role and in my work. But perhaps what I’m most excited about is being part of something bigger. It feels secure and rewarding to say that I work to safeguard and protect other people’s daily work lives. That really drives me.
At the same time, I’m looking forward to establishing a forward-thinking and reputable company like SSG here in Norway. My goal is to be able to say, “We at SSG are the best partners for the HSE manager, HR manager, and workers. We’re here for you.”
